Poster sessions at EuroHPC Summit 2025

The EuroHPC Summit is an annual flagship event that brings together key stakeholders from across the European high-performance computing (HPC) and quantum computing landscape. Participants include technology providers, scientific and industrial users, as well as policymakers. The summit serves as a platform to showcase the latest achievements and emerging opportunities within the European supercomputing ecosystem, while also fostering dialogue on current and future challenges in HPC and quantum technologies. In addition to its rich program, the event offers valuable networking opportunities, connecting members of the European supercomputing community. At EuroHPC Summit 2025, HPC SPECTRA will present a poster highlighting its main objectives and recent progress, including the development of the HPC Skills Tree and contributions to the International HPC Summer School.

Mid-term project review in Luxembourg

Train The Trainers – HPC SPECTRA and community

The next Train the Trainers (TTT) workshop will be led by Dr. Kevin Lüdemann, Jaison Lewis, and Matthias Eulert and will take place online on 27 February 2025. This workshop will introduce fundamental topics, including an overview of the HPC Skill Tree, its structure, and how information is organized within it. Additionally, participants will learn how to edit and modify content within the framework. The core focus of the session will be hands-on engagement with the Skill Tree and its individual skills. To maximize the learning experience, participants are encouraged to bring a course they currently teach and wish to adapt to the Skill Tree Framework as part of their preparation.

Face-to-face consortium meeting in Barcelona

The HPC SPECTRA consortium gathered at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center for our first face-to-face meeting of 2025. Over two days, our five work package leaders presented project updates and strategic plans for the year ahead, fostering discussions that will shape the project’s roadmap. This meeting provided a valuable opportunity for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and alignment of efforts to advance HPC SPECTRA’s objectives.

Applications Open for the International HPC Summer School 2025

The International HPC Summer School (IHPCSS) 2025 will take place from July 6–11, 2025, in Lisbon, Portugal, providing an opportunity for advanced graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career scientists to enhance their expertise in high-performance computing (HPC). Participants will engage in hands-on training with state-of-the-art HPC tools, gain insights into applications ranging from artificial intelligence to climate modeling, and network with leading experts and peers from around the world. Train the Trainers (TTT) workshop

The Train the Trainers (TTT) workshop, led by Dr. Kevin Lüdemann, Jaison Lewis, and Matthias Eulert, took place online on 18 December 2024. Organized as a collaborative initiative by the HPC SPECTRA project and the HPC Certification Forum, the session provided educators in the HPC community with insights into the HPC Skill Tree Framework and practical strategies to enhance their courses. Over the course of three hours, participants explored the structure of the HPC Skill Tree, learned techniques for adapting course content, and engaged in hands-on exercises to integrate skills into their teaching materials. This workshop offered a valuable opportunity for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the refinement of HPC education.

Concluding a Successful International HPC Summer School 2024

HPC SPECTRA Kick-Off Meeting Successfully Held in Dublin

The HPC SPECTRA Kick-Off Meeting took place on February 27th in Dublin, marking the official launch of the project. Representatives from our partner institutions – Barcelona Supercomputing Center, National University of Ireland, HLRS – High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart, GWDG – Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH Göttingen, University of Luxembourg, and Kormányzati Informatikai Fejlesztési Ügynökség – shared their strategies and expectations, setting a strong foundation for collaboration.
